Create your own reality. Tell others what you see as real, e.g., “I will not use a cell phone in public to discuss confidential issues with a client.” Don’t be reluctant to let your “turf” (beliefs) be known. In matters of taste, it’s fine to go with the flow. But in matters of belief or principles, you should stand firm.
Mindset: People will assume you agree with them if you don’t make your position known. Passivity implies agreement with most people.
