Create eye contact with others even when they may look away. Eye contact creates influence, control, and expresses interest. Become comfortable when someone does it with you. Practice this in social situations to become adept at it. Simply looking someone in the eyes will bolster your own feelings of control and convey your interest.
Mindset: You’ve seen people who look over your shoulder while talking to you to see if there’s anyone else “more important” in the room! When you don’t look people in the eye, they assume you’re not engaged.
